AdriaClim project focuses on climate change monitoring through upgraded observing and modelling systems in nine pilot areas (six Italian and three Croatian). Scientific findings from newly implemented monitoring systems will be a base to develop new and to update exsisting adaptation plans and mitigation strategies against adverse effects of climate changes.
General objectives:
- To enhance climate change adaptation capacity in coastal areas developing homogeneous and comparable data
- To improve knowledge, capacity and cooperation on climate change observing and modelling system
- To develop strategies to mitigate adverse effects of climate change on coastal and marine areas at risk
- To develop advanced information system, tools and indicators for optimal climate change adaptation and mitigation planning
IOF project team includes scientists and technical staff from four Institute laboratories: Laboratory of Physical Oceanography, Laboratory of Chemical Oceanography and Sedimentology, Laboratory of Plankton and Shellfish toxicity and Laboratory of Marine Microbiology, and their activities are related to two pilot areas: Kaštela Bay and Neretva River estuary.
