An estimate of productivity of the Adriatic Sea made on the basis of its hydrographic properties

Abstract

      The fact is pointed out that various parts of the Adriatic Sea differ a great deal as to their hydrographic and morphological properties, affecting thus the primary marine production. From this point of view, the Adriatic is divided by the author into four distinctive zones. A chart, showing the four zones and supplemented by a table, is also given. The factors affecting the productivity of each of the four zones are reviewed in brief. In addition to a number of natural influences, the paper also deals with the actual or possible consequences the actions of man upon the production in each of the zones. An estimate is given of the degree of productivity for each zone separately. (The chart is on Page 42).
