Abstract

The equipment, measured data and retrieved parameters from the Automatic Metocean Station Split (AMOS) are described in details. Based on the one year data output (March, 1999 - February, 2000) from this station, monthly means and variances of 10 meteorological and oceanographic parameters (air humidity, air pressure, air temperature, precipitation, salinity, sea temperature, solar and net radiation, wind direction and speed) have been calculated. Output from the sea level sensor was compared to the classical tide-gauge records, showing equivalent response to the sea surface elevation.

In addition, the results of the data analyses consisted of the long-wave radiation, sensible and latent heat, calculated using the bulk method. Errors due to undersampling of the calculated parameters were determined for different sampling intervals.
