Morphological characteristics of blood cells in species of cartilaginous fish from the Adriatic Sea

Abstract

       This study was performed to evaluate the morphological characteristics of erythrocytes, ery­throblasts, thrombocytes and leucocytes in six species of cartilaginous fish from the Adriatic Sea. The staining characteristics, cell shapes and diameters, cell surface areas and nuclear character­istics were obtained for each cell type in each of the six species. The prevalence of each type of blood cell in each species was also provided.
