Checklist of the Mediterranean brachyuran crabs

Abstract

      The ongoing studies by Mediterranean carcinologists have enhanced our knowledge of the brachyuran fauna of the area. Meticulous sampling procedures, improved systematic understanding and the continuing influx from the Red Sea have combined to augment the number of known brachyuran crabs in the Mediterranean Sea. The current inventory com­prises 141 species ranged in 77 genera and 27 families.
