The taxonomy, distribution and ecology of Adriatic Foraminifera: with Atlas (Plates I – XXXVI)

Abstract

       The purpose of this study is to present an inventory of benthic and planktonic foraminiferal spe­cies, collected from the sediments of the open Adriatic, their taxonomic classification, distribution along with the ecological factors affecting their occurrence, distribution, and frequency in the Adri­atic sediments.

      The research was carried out in the open parts of the northern, middle and southern Adriatic, including also the northern Ionian Sea as boundary Adriatic-Mediterranean area. Due to the fact that these researches are of an extensive character they provide the basis for further intensive research of Foraminifera in different Adriatic areas along with their taxonomy, distribution and ecology.
