The cephalopod fauna of the Adriatic

Abstract

      The list of the Cephalopods from the Adriatic Sea, which includes 41 species, is reported. References are given to the findings that occurred in the last 15 years; the presence of Heteroteuthis dispar and Neorossia caroli, cephalopods new to the Adriatic, is also recorded. The overall distribu­tion of the Adriatic teuthofauna and its affinities with the eastern Mediterranean fauna are discussed.
