State and some problems of fishery statistics

Abstract

       In this paper are given the main characteristics of present system of fishery statistics relating to volume, content, methods and quality of information. It is also considered how much is system of fishery statistics adapted to actual requirements of economy and science.

        Some problems result from the subjective estimates  of data numerous and detailed statistics from different sources their difficult comparability and lack of adequate publications. For that reason the use of data for analyses are not statisfactory enough.

        In order to ensure more accurate and up-to-date information it is being proposed some solutions of mentioned problems. These are the following: collection of additional data on location of catch and utilization of catch the use of sampling methods for collecting data on catch of private fishermen and some more information on prices and value of fish. It is also recomended some more study of problems regarding the statistical definitions, standards and classification on fishery statistics.
